其实也怪我一时手快，未有给出字词答案的行业出处，导致大家误解，不好意思。

也看出一个英文单词 behind, 看似简单，其实也颇复杂的。好像 behind bar，behind schedule 或 （I am) behind you 都不能翻成 “背后” 啊。：）

Jane 的理解是对的 由于原文是有关清洁问题，我想大多数是由中国人开的食肆（外卖店）、餐馆，经过政府卫生督察检查后（香港人称卫生帮），发出的公函要求老板采取相应卫生措施，以符合英国本土及欧盟的食物卫生条例。

所以，对于 in place, Jane 的理解是对的。

依照英国及欧盟食物卫生条例，食肆老板须依照法例规定，制订一个卫生计画，那里需要日日清洗，例如厨房切菜板、煮食工具以及顾客使用之洗手间等，那些地方只需要 occasional cleaning 例如冰箱内部四壁、烤炉内部四壁以及原文的煮食炉具背后。这些地方均容易被疏忽清洁，但日积月累，则会累积污垢、油迹、尘埃。

我有幸多次出席听证会，替有关食肆老板翻译，比较清楚执行卫生条例的有关行业用词。

一般英国的卫生督察英文写作都会比较口语化，所以一不小心，会容易误解的。behind equipment 是一个好例子。

谢谢 J.H. 原文是一封信，不那么正式，语法用词都不太严谨。我个人认为“be in place"显然是这个词书面本来的意思，就是制订好了一个做卫生的安排计划在那里，可以照着做，按部就班进行店内清洁。

按逻辑来说，举例所列举的内容一定与前面要说明的内容是一类东西。如果是列举前面说的items，似乎原文应该改写为这样：e.g. those items behind equipment.

另一种可能 Jianhong, 我仔细读了这句话，感觉还有另一种可能的解释，供你参考：我觉得原文可以这样改写：A cleaning schedule that includes items needing occasional cleaning is in place, e.g. behind equipment. 其中 in place 是在适当地点的意思。因为 e.g. behind equipment 的意思是，例如，在设备后面，所以我认为它似乎不是指在设备后面的物件，而是指清洁计划/时间表贴在适当的地方，比如设备后面。

It isn't a name or type of equipment, but simply the back of an equipment which requires occasional cleaning such as gas stove, fridge, microwave etc.

Dust, oil or grease could accumulate there from time to time if not cleaned occasionally.
