Sunt două teste diferite, ambele urmăresc rezistenta la presiuni ridicate a lubrifianţilor, dar folosind sisteme diferite (instalaţia Timken, respectiv maşina cu 4 bile) . În cazul maşinii cu patru bile este vorba de sudura celor 4 bile în condiţiile în care lubrifiantul nu mai poate acţiona pentru a împiedica acest lucru.

Four-ball tester
Purpose
The methods in accordance with this standard are intended to determine the characteristic values of lubricants with additives which should allow high surface pressure in the mixed friction area between surfaces moved in relation to each other.
The method gives little correlation to the behaviour of the lubricants in real applications.
Brief description of the method
The lubricant is tested in a four-ball system, which consists of a rotating ball (running ball), which slides on three balls which are identical to it (stationary balls). The test loads may either be increased gradually until the four-ball system seizes up or the ball imprint diameters of the three stationary balls shall be measured with constant test load after a set test period.

Produsul Metabond a fost examinat de institutul din Plafz al TUV Rheinland.
Pe baza rezultatelor obtinute in domeniul reducerii uzurii TUV a considerat produsul ca fiind pozitiv.
Metodele americane folosite de TUV:

ASTM D 2783 / aparat cu 4 bile /
ASTM nu se traduce e marimea granulei
TImken se cheama testul si nu cred ca exista vreun echivalent in lb romana pt ca e originar in AMerica de Nord ( din cate stiu eu)

: După câte am citit testul Timken determină "pata de uzură" şi condiţiile nu sunt aşa de "vitrege" încât să se producă sudura elementelor care se află în contact.
