Dear colleagues,
one of the reasons why I still tend to stick to Trados (no matter what version) is the capability to insert numerals from target to source by hitting just a key. Again I have studied the DV manual (maybe not carefully enough...?) to find out whether even DV offers this possibility to me as I sometimes often have to deal with sections containing a lot of numerals, which will not be placed automatically by the pretranslation function. Maybe there is a solution? Many thanks!<

"Insert source text" setting Feb 23, 2012

You can get DVX2 to "insert source text" for any stuff it does not find in the databases. This will normally insert the numbers properly, although it is worth checking them after the event just in case (problems have sometimes been observed "in the wild"). When you have finished a project with lots of numbers, it is worth doing a number check, too.

To do this, go to the start of the project and hit CTRL-Shift-F7. This setting can also check for terminology issues if you tick the appropriate box under Tools>Options>General (you have to scroll down to the heading "Terminology checks"). Normally, I leave all 4 boxes unticked, and this means that CTRL-Shift-F7 checks the numbers and nothing else. But if you use the lexicon for mandatory terminology, it may be worth checking that as well.

Numerals Feb 23, 2012

Hi Matthias,
Segments containing only numerals are actually pretranslated automatically. For segments containing text and numerals, we can use F5 to copy source to target, and then overwrite. The new autowrite feature helps a lot here. Only tags can be inserted by pressing on one key. For your info, you may download DVX and use it for free 30 days...
Best Regards
Caroline

Dear Caroline, dear Victor,

thanks again for answering me. So there still doesn´t seem to be a direct way to put in those numerals, but I will try out your suggestions for the next project (I already purchased recently DVX2 because it´s one of my customers favorites). F5 and overwriting is not a comfortable option, is it?
By the way: Proz has started a new TGB campaign for DVX2 (345,- €). As I also got Studio on this way (same price), I am able to check out the differences

Best regards,

Matthias
