Just a hint: MS Office 2007, Office for Mac 2008, OpenOffice can convert any DOC document to a PDF one... if you have one of them, of course.

You can convert Word document into PDF with PDFCreator. I use it and it works very well!!

It's very simple: Open your doc. Press F12 (or save as). Select pdf from the "save as type" drop down (by default it will be the original format, probably .doc or .docx)

All you need is Word 2007 with Service Pack 2. One of the Save As options allows you to save your document as a pdf file. Option not available before the update, unless you download it off the internet.

You could configure it, and after done your work on MS Word, you simple go to print on PDF995, and as a result you receive a .pdf file, instead of a printed one.

Of course, you may print this generated file on other sites.
A good use for this PDF995 is when you need to send to someone away a file to print. For example, sometimes I have to generate a tax bill for a parent, who moved from my city, concerning his leaved home (water, electricity, phone, etc.). He / she simply print the .pdf-bill where he / she lives now and pay it there.
You can see that it works for all software which could send something to a real printer, not only for Word! For example, scanned documents, photos, etc. ▲ Collapse

The shortest form is:
Open the document, go to FILE then PRINT. In the window, at the very first raw you see NAME. Chose Abode PDF in the drop down menu and click ok, then just save it on your pc.
Quite simple! You just have to have installed an adobe pdf prodoct.

it's really helpful and not free, but for a pittance (like 3 GBP) you get 50 credits and can convert a ton of documents. You can pay by paypal or online payment system. It's great!
