Excel word count

I am translating a table (from a hard copy), and find it easier in Excel than in Word (2000), but hey - how do I count the words?? I cannot find a wordcount option.

Or do I have to import the table into Word?

Yes, you will have to import it into Word, unless someone else has another trick to find the wordcount. I hate doing that...

Opening in Word suffices May 6, 2004

Just open the file with Word and count.

Another possibility would be to use Practicount of which a trial version is available online (www.practicount.com). This program also counts Powerpoint files, so might be extremely useful for some translators. Copying and pasting from Excel is not such a hassle, but Powerpoint can be a real nightmare (tons of different frames etc!)

For Powerpoint files, right-click on the unopened file and go to summary. You'll see the word count.
