Proz.com recently introduced the 'Private' option in job postings wherein, I think, certain jobs are visible only to those who meet the criteria.
I've seen some private postings which are interesting and relevant to my fields of expertise, although I've also had access to quite a few which have nothing to do with my fields of specialisation and clearly the 'privacy settings' are set large (such as 'native English speaker' for a highly technical engineering offer - or at least that's... I'm curious: would it be possible to see the criteria selected by outsourcers when they post jobs as 'private'?
Presumably outsourcers posting such jobs have a quite specific idea of the kind of translator they're looking for. Being able to see the criteria selected would likely help us understand if we match up with what the outsourcer is after. It would also assuage my curiosity...

Note that private job postings have been designed for outsourcers who do not want their search activity to be publicly visible (ex. to their clients or competitors), and so they do not want to post a classic job posting. Thus, identifiable information about private jobs is not shown to those who are not illegible.

Ah, I may have just figured it out for myself: are all those who meet the job poster's criteria given access to private postings?
The message about the posting only being visible to a "specific list" and being told that one is on that list to me implies that the outsourcer has made a targeted choice which I presumed went beyond the regular criteria, but I'm starting to think that it is likely just translators who meet all criteria who can quote (at which point the new system is really no different for translators than the regular system which only lets you quote on jobs for which you qualify).
I suppose my question is what exactly is the "specific list"?
Sorry if this is totally obvious to everyone...

The list of eligible service providers for a private job posting may be made up of service providers explicitly specified by the outsourcer or by the system, which can also attempt to automatically identify eligible providers, if the outsourcer allows it. To do so, the system searches for providers with relevant language pairs, native language, field of expertise, etc., taking into account provider job notification preferences. Prior relationships between the outsourcer and provider are also considered, including the feedback they have recorded about each other.
