Hello everyone
I'm editing a file in Trados 2011 with some tag soup, and the translator really messed up the tags. For some segments, it would be simpler to just remove all tags from the segment and place them from scratch. But... how can I remove all tags from a segment?
Thanks Samuel

Ctrl+Alt+space

Hi Samuel,
A useful exercise, when you get a few minutes, is to look at the keyboard shortcuts in Tools -> Options. You may find many things in there you didn't know you could do just through a 2/3 minute browse.
So Ctrl+Space will clear selected tag formatting, and Ctrl+Alt+Space will clear all tag formatting from the segment without having select anything.

Tried several times, both the shortcut AND the button and it's just as useful as wiping the Sphynx's nose...
And I have 6000 words that only need changing tags...
Thanks Trados 2021, you're a a real treasure....

Except how to apply this command to more than 1 segment at a time. memoQ can delete all tags in one go for 15 years now. Trados 2021 still can't. Extremely useful exercise indeed... to build your finger muscles.

Do you think it would be possible to export the file "for biligual review" as a bilingual table, use the find-replace function in Word to remove the tags (only in the target column), and import the file back using the Update from Bilingual Review button?

Mission impossible

Probably yes, there must be a workaround for this. But it seems very strange that there is no button for this simple action. Compare pressing Ctrl+F8 in memoQ or Memsource (half second action) and exporting-for-bilingual-review/replacing-a-regex/importing-from-bilingual-review. Even speaking of a single segment, the Ctrl+Alt+Space shortcut only removes formatting tags. All other tags, if any, will still be there even if you press Ctrl+Alt+Space hundred times. Inserting all tags in a single segment is a more difficult task for Trados but still possible — it takes an app from RWS App Store to do that. Finally, removing all tags from all segments in one go is an impossible task for Trados. Neither shortcut, nor app is invented yet. Just ridiculous.
