More workout Sep 26, 2009

For me,
Staying all the time in front of the PC = continuously growing pregnant belly

I bought a treadmill for a daily 30 min workout.

My solution... Sep 26, 2009

Any type of desk job is sedentary and leads to unwanted weight gain. To combat my own personal middle-age spread, I've decided to take up Body Pump. It´s a very active program of weights and cardio work.

I've also been able to enlist support from my 11-year-old daughter and some days we push the coffee table in the living aside and do aerobics together. It's great father- daughter time and is anything but sedentary. Phew, I'm getting out of breath just thinking about it!...

difficult to change lifestyle Sep 26, 2009

Living in a hilly town, I know jogging is not always a good idea. After a long period of absence, it's a bit embarrassing to frequent a gym or a swimming club. Firstlt of all, I don't guess there is one in the vicnity. Also, it's difficult to find good partners for tennis immediately on days when I feel like it.

I simply need to know how to find some exercise solution in sedentary lifestyle!

Back to the gym/swimming pool Sep 26, 2009

After years of jogging under any possible weather condition (including snow, thunderstorms, hailstorm etc etc) this year I am going back to a comfortable gym with lots of weird machines and a great indoor swimming pool. Hey I might get to know people as well!

Weights Sep 26, 2009

Nice and convenient, I don't have to pay to go to the gym, I can exercise whatever the weather. I can't cope with being completely sedentary, my brain goes to mush.

Agree - Any type of desk job is sedentary - my last job was too, though it was very far removed from tranlsation
A few years ago, when we were thinking of buying a house, (I wasn't in this profession then) we decided not to buy an 'independent' one and instead bought a small apartment in a complex which also boasts of a compact fitness centre and, in summer, a swimming pool. No excuses now for not taking a few minutes off for exercise - at least five days a week!
Enjoy your Sunday folks

flexible time allows for more exercise Sep 27, 2009

Although I do find that I *really* need to schedule it in.

However, I walk 1-2 miles with the dog 5 days a week,
I also participate in stage combat 3 days per week,
I also try to stretch several times per week.

But it is also hard to start any new activity, especially something organized.
I got luck with the stage combat: it's cooperatively based, wherein the more experienced teach the new people.

So everyone remembers what it was like to start, and no one laughs at you.

This is my usual schedule. At the moment, I'm trying to figure out how to stay active with a broken foot.
