I... don't remember Jun 23, 2006

Actually, I don't remember how did I come across the ProZ.com site. I guess that some friend of mine mentioned it and I decided to have a look at it... And that's how it started.

Now I'm ProZ addicted. I don't imagine a day without answering KudoZ and just being a part of this great community

M.

Powwow Jun 23, 2006

I was invited to a powwow in September 2004 and found out about ProZ.com from colleagues who also attended. I joined soon after that.

A colleague Jun 23, 2006

There are many translation sites, some of them offer good job options, others mean a possibility to express about many concepts but divert the goal.

As a translator, I needed a dynamic site. Since this colleague told me about proz.com I daily get into the site and feel the joy of reading, helping others and learning.

Yes, I feel just like my maja Polish colleague. When I'm not able to enter Proz I feel like a mexican dish without chili.

Surfing but... Jun 23, 2006

I found the Website of translator Helena El Masri, which linked me to Proz.com. When I opened this window I knew it would lead me to what I expected as a translator. Proz game me all.

Bye,

Elías

In memoriam
E-mail invitation Jun 23, 2006

Way back in the beginning someone from Proz.com must have been trolling in other translator sites and found me there and sent me a direct invitation. So I joined, then ignored it for at least six months.

Suddenly one day I found myself without work, got hooked, and the rest is history.

It's just like I got hooked on "Wheel of Fortune", when you go interactive, you can't go wrong.

Or maybe that was Vanna White? Or maybe chile? Or it could be Chilean wine or

Googling words in both Spanish and English Jun 23, 2006

I have this technique where I google two words: the Spanish word and the word or a part thereof I believe is the English translation. Like searching "casa house". No, I never searched a term that easy. I soon realized that many of my Google searches ended up being ProZ personal glossaries. The rest is history.

email from CAT tool vendor Jun 23, 2006

As a registered CAT tool user, I received an email with link to a Proz page, where different CAT tools were being compared and users could give their ratings. It must have been in late 2000.

I then started to look around, partecipate in Forum discussions and Kudoz...
In fact, I enjoyed this community so much that a few months later I teamed up with Angela to organize the first ever Proz conference, mother of all powows and subsequent conferences.

Surfing the internet for translation courses Jun 23, 2006

I find out about proz just surfing the web. I think I was looking for translation courses. But it wasn't until I attended my first Powwow (and learned more about how the sites works) a month or so later that I began to use it everyday.
