Translating Trados GroupShare projects in CafeTran Espresso on a Mac isn't as straightforward as we Mac users hoped for ...

Here's my workflow for GroupShare projects (I assume that you normally handle your e-mail in a Mac app):

  1. Open your virtual machine with Trados Studio.
  2. Open the Edge browser.
  3. Open your e-mail account in Edge.*)
  4. Open the message regarding the GroupShare job.
  5. Click on the link “Open project ‘XYZ... See more

Here's my workflow for GroupShare projects (I assume that you normally handle your e-mail in a Mac app):

  1. Open your virtual machine with Trados Studio.
  2. Open the Edge browser.
  3. Open your e-mail account in Edge.*)
  4. Open the message regarding the GroupShare job.
  5. Click on the link “Open project ‘XYZ’ in Studio”.
  6. Wait until Studio has downloaded the project.
  7. In File Explorer, navigate to the folder containing the SDLXLIFF files for your target language.
  8. Copy these files to the Mac side, and translate them in CafeTran Espresso.
  9. Once you've finished the translation, copy the files back to the target language folder at the Windows side.
  10. In Studio, check the files in to the client's GroupShare server.


*) Alternatively, copy the job URL from your Mac mail app and paste it in the address bar of Edge.
