Also, looking up one of those domains I discovered it was registered on January the 3rd in the UK. I should have done that sooner, but again, the original offer did sound legitimate... (I never saw the part about paying $30, as someone else mentioned).

P.S. It would be nice if some sort of "screening"/check was put in place, especially for job offers coming from "new"/unkown posters.

same message Jan 6, 2016

I received the same e-mail this afternoon. It seems original, but when they ask regarding a deposit of 30$ to verify my identity, it doesn't convinced me.
So I have searched on Google and Proz and I have found this post.
Thank you very much for your collaboration, it helps me!

I got the same mail, from the same Lucia promising a ton.

Thanks to Alejandro Cavalitto from Proz who warned me about the scam. I was just about to send them the "$30-deposit".

When reading the pdf these guys sent, I became suspicious. The format and design was really bad for a company claiming to be a leading agency.

Hmmm Jan 6, 2016

Yes, I received that same email, and was a little suprised by the "fact" that "Lucia" knew something I was completely unaware of: I have never filed a registration with their site. So how could she have been so impressed by my CV? (I never call it a CV.)

When I got to the "refundable" $ 30 which were to enable them to send me work, I just hit delete. I am the service provider and that means that I am the one who gets pa

Happy and, above all, a scammer-free New Year!

Hello,

Thank you Alvaro for starting this thread to alert the community. The job postings were removed some days ago, when questions were raised about the contact information included in them. Now that it has been confirmed that this was a scam, I have sent out an alert through the scam alert center. You can read the alert here. An additional alert has been sent to every person who submitted a quote on the removed job postings. Note that it is often not possible to determine if an offer is fraudulent or not before it is approved. When a fraudulent offer is identified, the community is warned about it and the scammers are blocked.

On top of sending out alerts, to make this more visible a Blue Board record was created at http://www.proz.com/blueboard/45958 . Hopefully this will prevent more people from falling for this scam.

It is noteworthy that the page to make the payment includes a Realtranslatorjobs.com banner, a scam website that has been around for several years. Please see http://www.proz.com/topic/201643 for more information on that scam.

I hope this helps! If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you.

Best regards,
Alejandro

Wow, so "www.hipay.com" is itself a scam? Jan 6, 2016

Quoting the address from http://www.proz.com/blueboard/45958 - hxxps://www.hipay.com/who-are-we/

I'm asking because I've seen that payment processor used on some online shops, so I thought it was legitimate and that this scam was based on redirects from other "similar" domains (such as the ones

It looks like Hipay is a legitimate service Jan 6, 2016

Hello Mirko,

Thanks for pointing that out. It looks like Hipay is a legitimate service, and that the scammers are just impersonating them. I have now removed that link from the Blue Board record, to avoid giving the impression that the scammers are related to Hipay. Thanks again.

Best regards,
Alejandro

I just got this email, but it sounded suspicious and when I read the letter it sounded too good to be true. This is the link http://www.hipaypanel.com/tr_offerletter.pdf, so luckely I found this post and did not apply.

Tip Jan 6, 2016

Since job postings always expire (and the contents deleted) or are being removed as in this case, I routinely use ctrl+p and save the job posting as a pdf for future reference, renaming the pdf with the posted job # and putting it in a folder prozjobs.

Me too! Jan 6, 2016

Hello,
Seems everyone is receiving this 'generous' offer.
I received it and when I clicked the link, it was broken. I doubted it from the very beginning.
But what is the aim of doing this? Since they didn't ask about any money or any deposit?

Very fishy!

Well, Lionbridge asks you US$ 15.00/month for using their good for nothing TWS tool...
