Countries I lived in and love to live in/visit Oct 29, 2009

India - 4 years (was treated like a royal) - highly recommended. Culture, food, schooling are great.
Vietnam - 16 years (non-communist (8 years) and communist regimes (8 years - unfortunately))
Australia - 26 years - Brisbane is a quiet area. I've been to Melbourne (1 week) and love it. Sydney is OK.

Love to live in the US, Singapore, Canada.

Countries visited : Thailand - above average, New Zealand - OK.
Long-term visit : France, Germany, Argentina (d

I ticked the ">5" option because there was no "5" option.

Italy (my home country)
Germany (one year, as a kid)
France (2 years)
Spain (3 years)
Belgium (2 years and still there)

The reason for my moving to Germany was my Dad's work and I hated it.
The reason for the other movings is my husband's work (same kind of work, by the way: research in Physics). I enjoy some aspects of moving and hate others.

The decision to become a freelance translator was greatly because of all these movings. It is easier to build a kind of a carrier where your office travels around with you than trying to find a job in every new place.

Next moving in less than a year. Where to? No idea yet, maybe back to Italy, maybe somewhere else in Europe. No America or Asia, they're too far from home

Ciao,
Cristina
