Hi Patricia,
That sounds great. I would love to join you again but I don't think I can make it this year.
Maybe next year though, once we're settled in Oz!
Regards,

Great idea, great location.. everything is great but....
I just wonder if you have taken into consideration that not all professional translators and interpreters are free-lancers, working from home...
Just to remind you that there are a number of serious T/I practitioners who might like mingling around with other colleagues and exchange thoughts over a picnic but unfortunately not everyone is free on Friday.

I really like the idea but Friday .... no, thank you, I'm busy.
Is it possible for you to reconsider timing? ▲ Collapse | | | Patricia Will Ավստրալիա Local time: 10:32 Անդամ (2004) գերմաներենից անգլերեն TOPIC STARTER End of year picnic in Perth - timing | Nov 17, 2009 |
I'm sorry Kemal, you have made this point before but for those of us with busy families the weekends are off-limits as this conflicts with all our family commitments. Like myself, most of the colleagues I know do work from home full-time, or are interpreters with some flexibility between assignments. I understand you are an AUSIT member but we didn't see you at our recent AUSIT open day which was held on Saturday September 26 and was attended by around 60 people. Why not organise some event yourself for some Saturday and invite people to attend? I don't have the monopoly on organising events in Perth, and if you were to organise something for Proz.com members I would certainly make the effort to attend. Why not think about organising a Proz.com powwow some weekend? I would be happy to help advertise the event via the contacts I have in the industry.
With best regards

Unfortunately that weekend I wasn't in Perth - "family commitments", you know.
You see, I have "family commitments" over the weekends as well but I always can make plans to make everyone happy.
Anyway, it doesn't matter.
Enjoy the picnic!
Kind regards! | | | Geraldine Oudin (X) Մեծ Բրիտանիա ճապոներենից ֆրանսերեն + ... I'll be there | Nov 17, 2009 |
The September event was very nice, and I will most likely be there on the 4th, unless something unexpected happens.
See you soon!
PS: I was actually thinking of organising a powwow sometime, but at the moment I am a bit busy.
